Magic Clouds to Rainbow Machines!

2015, 3rd Grade, Dear You Art Workshops, Dear You Workshop Leader, Denmark, FinlandArlene TuckerComment

I have felt warmly welcome every time I have been to Viertolan Koulu's 3rd grade class! They are so happy, talented and positive kids and they are lucky to have such a good teacher: Maija Pitko. For a Christmas present I had lovely small concert from kids and Maija!  Also, we had Tatjana Knudsen´s wonderful class in Denmark as our pair in Dear you-project. Thank you for everybody!

In the Let's Go! project we made inventions of all sorts! Check out the pictures of some of these ingenious ideas!

Looking towards the horizon in Estonia

2015, 4 years old, 5 years old, Collective Art, Dear You Art Workshops, Estonia, GermanyArlene TuckerComment

Most of kids from our pre-school have viruses, therefore only half of the group is together. 6 boys, aged 4-5 years participated at the project. They loved the process. Specially, that they could choose between different pencil lines with what to fill the surface. We looked out from window and found our horizon- sky and earth. From there the colours: blue and green. It was also interesting for kids that pictures together made long spanning landscape, with valleys and heights- our Southern Estonian landscape.

And for teachers, to me and Lissi, we love making arts with children and enjoy the process.

Thank you for enriching our everyday life!

Inge

Imagine Me Puppets from Vantaa, Finland are on their way to Heath, Texas!

2015, 4th Grade, Dear You Art Workshops, Finland, USAArlene TuckerComment

Today went really well!  We had so much fun and they all loved it!  We looked at the map to see where Texas is and had such a good time that we lost track of time.

The kids were making sketches in their notebooks and were so happy with their drawings, that we ended up photocopying them from the notebooks and then cutting them out from the photocopy, and then adding glitter and buttons.

The teacher, Riitta-Liisa at Viertolan Koulu is just amazing!

and then the _____ came from around the corner!

In these wonderful comics by the 2nd graders at Arivu School I see a world of surprises, witty humor and friendship! The art of visual storytelling shows so much about the creative artists in Mysore, India. I am sure they loved reading the comics from their friends in Espoo, Finland and I KNOW that the Monkeys at Your School can't wait to receive these comics!

Thank you Samanvitha Rao for being such an inspiring and great Dear You Workshop Leader!

Monkey Mania Manga

2015, 6 years old, Dear You Art Workshops, Finland, IndiaArlene TuckerComment

The Monkeys have found their other calling as comic artists!

From the looks of their character studies they have a great handle on how to convey emotions and feelings.  Lotta drew a story that will happen over the summertime.  Lotta's big sister will have a birthday party and she drew how the event will go.  Let's all go!  Olivia drew all the things she would like to do this summer such as swimming, going on an airplane (lentokone) and playing on the swings.  Lumina's character study turned into a perfect way to learn Finnish!

Our friends at Arivu School in India are on summer holiday now, but when they'll return to a package of comics from the Monkeys :).

Have a beautiful summer holiday, everybody!

Sun catch the rays in Berlin!

2015, 5 years old, Dear You Art Workshops, Germany, Pre-SchoolArlene TuckerComment

Here are some pictures of the sun catchers the artists in Berlin made.

Lusine Boyajyan, the teacher of the 5 year old artists at Kita Felix and Friends said, "We had a great sunny day and the kids were happy to explore the light and drawn pictures, the shadow of fingers behind the transparent paper...was a lot of fun :-)"

These artworks will brighten up Ahja's artists' day!

Berliners find amazing color combinations!

2015, 5 years old, Dear You Art Workshops, Estonia, GermanyArlene TuckerComment

Lusine and her 5 year old artists from Berlin had a great time with their Dear You March project! I am sure Evelyn and her artists in Mooste, Estonia will appreciate their watercolor views.

We split the project into two. First the kids made and used their viewfinders to fix images, colors and different combinations. It was interesting to observe that later on when they were asked to put their creativity onto paper, they knew exactly what and how they wanted to paint. In between, they were encouraged to use the view finders again, which they applied from different distances involving other kids to hold the painting or to look through their view finders.

We had a lot of fun and discovered many new things around us.

All the best,
Lusine and Felixers

The Cats in Vienna have been up to some lovely thoughts and artwork!

Simone, their teacher, wrote:
My children loved to work with this new material, the wool. I told them to make some pictures of something they love. So they can share it with their partners. Also, we talked about people we love.

Children love their parents and their families, also their animals. Important is the fact we can love someone because he is doing something good, he is helping us and very important: he is playing with us. :) And he has to be very nice.

What can we do for people we love? You can write a love letter, you can paint something, you can give flowers.

Best wishes,
Simone and her cats

The Solar System strings us together!

5 years old, 2015, Collective Art, Dear You Art Workshops, Pre-School, USAArlene TuckerComment

Hi,

We had a great time doing the February Dear You art project.  We have been focusing on the solar system and talking about how we are connected to everything, so the project tied in perfectly with our curriculum! We have also been working on sharing and teamwork, so each piece was a collective effort.

Have a great day,
Michelle
