Looking very closely to find...

My students used magnifying glasses to find interesting patterns on their hands and arms. We all made heart shape finger prints to see the different line patterns on our thumbs. Then I let them lose to create a mask with patterns they found on their body.

Having fun on Kadripäev and Mardipäeav!

2016, 2nd Grade, 8 years olds, Dear You Art Workshops, Estonia, Austria, HolidaysArlene TuckerComment

The January Project was fun. In Estonia we have the days "Kadripäev" and "Mardipäeav" where we make masks. The children wanted to immediately start to draw. They were looking for patterns on their skin and clothes. Fortunately, the children were wearing very colorful
clothing and the masks are completed soon. It was a great idea.

Pencils dots piece together wonder

Hallo,

At the beginning children made a variety of exercises. For example, how can a pencil dot and line can make art.  Then using those skills, we drew nature we would we want to see by looking out the window in Mooste.

Vienna in autumn looks like a magical place to be!

Hello!

In Vienna, we had autumn when we were doing the pictures. Trees have beautiful colours, apples are falling down, it is getting cold. So the kids made pictures from our season outside. They had a lot of good and funny ideas to show this! :) You will see it in the pictures!

Hope you are all fine!

Best wishes,
Simone

Dear Arlene!

Our post is on the way to Estland!

It was really funny to see what children are producing with the new theme.

There are different places where they feel good. Some of them love to be in nature or with animals, some of them only love to be at home.

But have a look and you will see nice and funny places to be!! :)

Best wishes from Vienna!

Crazy Good Friends from Vienna coming your way!

2015, 2nd Grade, Austria, EstoniaArlene TuckerComment

The children had lot of fun with creating a good friend and they made really funny pictures!

A good friend should be lovely and funny. They want to do crazy things with a best friend. And it is very important to play with each other.  As you can see on the pictures, friends also have animals.

Hope, you are fine and wish you the best,
Simone Zobl and her group of super creative 2nd graders

In these wonderful comics by the 2nd graders at Arivu School I see a world of surprises, witty humor and friendship! The art of visual storytelling shows so much about the creative artists in Mysore, India. I am sure they loved reading the comics from their friends in Espoo, Finland and I KNOW that the Monkeys at Your School can't wait to receive these comics!

Thank you Samanvitha Rao for being such an inspiring and great Dear You Workshop Leader!

All the things we see!

Dear Monkeys!

It was a very sunny and hot day in India today. The Arivu kids are almost ready to start their summer holiday.

We have given your string drawings to their teacher and they will do an exhibition before giving the artworks to your friends. They all are waiting to get the drawings and know you all!
The houses/huts painted this time are the Arivu school buildings that your friends chose to see through their viewfinders. It is so warm here that they can study with the windows open and often outside in the huts.

Uncle Subbu's car, which was parked outside, was another popular subject today, especially among the boys!

The hot sun, flowers, plants and even butterflies were also found today through the viewfinders.

Greetings from your Indian friends!

Artist Trading Cards (ATC) are a win!

2nd Grade, 2014, United Kingdom, USAArlene TuckerComment

Kathleen Finan, the art teacher at Amy Parks Heath Elementary School in Heath, Texas has been making Artist Trading Cards (ATC) with her artists.  They have just sent these to their Dear You friends in Nottingham, UK!

Kathleen wrote, "The students wrote holiday greetings on the back of these ATC scratchboards.  I bought these glitter scratchboards for the holidays, sometimes I make them with the kids.
The candy bags had 3 ATCs in them telling their favorite holidays when candy is given."

What a treat!  Not only did the artists make Candy Bags for the October project, but also ATCs!

Go ahead and try this out with your artists :)
